Onárstil descended upon his new world with a host of angels in his wake.

As I said, Vaada Pari was a twin to Teyra, but smaller and with two moons instead of one due to the greater amount of water. Very little work needed to be done, as the canvas had already been primed. All that was needed was to paint the landscape with life, and so it was.

From the ground and from the sea came all manner of great beasts that would easily dwarf any on Teyra. The people were no different, bigger, stronger and overwhelmingly beautiful, having been made in the image of their creator. The angels that were with him sang and praised him.

Unlike humans, however, the people of Vaada Pari were not given dominion over the land, for the land and seas and skies were his, given to him by Da Vaada, himself. Knowing this, many craved his favour. They crafted new words, new songs and poems of his greatness. Songs that would never reach Da Vaada’s ears, so he thought. Those he loved most were rewarded with higher standings and given those less favourable to command as they saw fit.

This led others to not want his favour. They wanted the land, they wanted the seas, they wanted the skies, and they would have it. So, they took it, in bits and pieces, where he could not see, for unlike Da Vaada, he could not see all or know all. Which is why he brought his contingent of angels. They were his eyes and ears and they reported to him.

He rewarded those who tried to take his world from him... with death. The first of its kind. Utter and complete erasure, all that you are, all that you could ever be, gone.

What followed immediately was rebellion, war and violence. The planet, once a beautiful blue and green paradise, was stained red by endless bloodshed. Onárstil and the hosts escaped, watching from above as his world, Vaada Pari was torn asunder. In fear and outrage, he summoned all the fire and radiance of his being and burned them all away, leaving only a desolate rock.

The only proof that life had ever been were the bloodstains which had soaked into the ground and could never be washed away, for there was no longer any water.

Onárstil and his hosts returned, in shame, to Da Vaada, who gave the planet a new name, Mars, for it had been ruined.

Incidentally, your people would give it the same name, after the so-called “god” of War.

Fascinating...

Da Vaada knew all. He saw into every heart, including Onárstil. The Morning Star who stood before him, covering his face, as all do.

“What troubles you, my son?”

“I wish for a kingdom.”

“Have I not given you command over all the heavenly hosts? All the stars?”

“This is your kingdom, not mine. I want a world of my own. One where I am worshipped as you are.”

“Are you my equal?”

Onárstil got down on one knee and hung his head.

“No! I am but your humble servant, but as your people share in your love and walk with you, I would have mine do the same.”

Da Vaada then stretched out his hand to the fourth planet from your sun, a beautiful world not unlike Teyra itself, only smaller.

“Take it. It is yours.”

“Thank you, Father.”

And so Onárstil, the Morning Star, would rise over his own horizon. One that was named Vaada Pari (Father’s Gift).

The angels, as we often call them, were raised to a higher status. The greatest among them, who had been the brightest among the stars, could stand before the throne of Da Vaada, though none could witness him directly. In fact, they would always need to shield their faces as they sang his praise or sought his counsel.

Among them was one who had shone the brightest before his ascendancy. So bright that from Teyra he could be seen in the early morning, right before the rising of your Sun. So, he was called Onárstil, the Morning Star.

Onárstil rose to unimaginable heights, second only to Da Suun, who was Da Vaada. He was a steward, a general, given command over all the hosts with an authority given by them.

Nothing was denied him, except for the humans and the planet Teyra. As the inheritors, the true children of Da Vaada, made through Da Suun in his image, Onárstil had no power over them. He could observe them, he could protect them, but he could not command them.

To him, this was NOT good.

I don’t think I need to tell you that infants need guardians, my Acolytes. Watchful eyes and guiding hands to keep them safe and on the right path while they explore the world around them. Humanity was in its infancy, and so it was given guardians. An army that would abide in Da Vaada’s strength and obey his commands.

The stars were still numerous. Kallor and Kibet tirelessly birthed new ones. Those that did not transform into smaller bodies nor given command of a solar system were left without purpose. They would be this army. At once, they were raised to a realm called Udamu, which you know as Heaven. They were given new forms, rankings, power and all the knowledge they would ever need.

Immediately, they knew who they were, but more importantly, they knew who he was and what their purpose was, and they sang.

This too was... good...

And here we are, my Acolytes. Teyra was primed and ready for the birth of life, and with it a pattern- No, an example that would be followed for all of time:

Big things start small, and small things need a big helping hand.

Da Vaada looked upon the barren rock and the empty waters... and he breathed. Da Suun, who was Da Vaada, received and released it upon the world. It circulated, mixing with the gases in the air, pulling droplets from the sea and dust from the ground.

The dust came in many colours, green being the most common, and would often group together. When it landed, it would burrow into the ground, only to sprout from it, long and thin. Some became even longer, thicker and brown. Some landed in the seas. Those that sank would repeat the same process as on the land, while the others began to swim.

The swimmers split off into two groups: those that would make the sea their home and those that would return to the land. These divisions would only grow as they spread out in both, growing into different shapes, sizes and even intellects. There were those who had no perception of creation around them, simply content to exist. Others could sense, observe and learn to different degrees, but none more than, perhaps, Da Vaada’s greatest creation:

The inheritors, the children, pulled from the ground to be its masters; sculpted in his image through Da Suun. I am, of course, talking about you, humans.

This, more than anything, was good.

Da Suun, who was Da Vaada, in form, face and authority, stepped onto Teyra. The water parted to make space for him. He began to walk, and more space was needed. He looked up at the moon, which watched from above, and he gave the water to it to command. The Moon did as it now does, pulling the water away and yet still, more space was needed.

So while the Moon pulled from above, the water started pushing down, deeper and deeper into Teyra, all the while the Da Suun still walked. To create even more space, some of the water escaped into the air, floating among the gases. Eventually, there was no more room to give, as no more was needed.

Yet still, Da Suun walked, and it held him up, something it would do for no other unless he desired it. As some of you may know, this would become one of his signatures, but that is a story for a different time. Many, many lifetimes in fact.

He continued to walk, observing the land and the sea.

This was good.

As I have said, my Acolytes, Da Vaada had Da Suun and Da Suun had Da Vaada. Their love was full and complete, and it needed to be shared. That is how best to describe it. The reason for life.

Tell me, Acolytes, do any of you partake in the arts? Then you must know of the importance of preparation. The tuning of instruments, the gathering of tools, and the preparing of the canvas.

Is art not an extension of life? Then why should its formation be any different?

First, your Sun was made to sleep, taking away the heat and light. The darkness, and especially the cold, ran unopposed.

Next, Teyra was gripped, squeezed, for it was not fully rock. The gases were simply forced within, building and heating up until they could not be contained, then forcing themselves out and covering the planet. The same was done with the other rocky planets that were big enough to still contain gas. Some were too small, and the gas solidified or burned away by the stars.

Soon, the planets, rock and gas alike, were frozen, the final consequence of cold fully realised.

Your Sun was awoken again, but not completely. What was frozen, solid, unmoving, was now fluid... liquid... water.

The cosmos was vast, and the stars were numerous and bright, yet none could match Da Suun’s radiance, let alone Da Vaada. The smallest of them began to dull their light as if to hide. Some would go even further, bowing and shrinking, becoming even smaller, compressing themselves until they hardened, forming what would come to be known as rock.

The first to do this had done so in Da Suun’s direct presence, at the very centre of all creation. This pleased Da Vaada, who named it Teyra (Earth), and that is what all rock would be known as throughout the universe.

Soon, others followed, the hardened and those who had only dulled their light, drawn in by the sheer magnitude of Da Vaada’s glory. They were no longer stars, so he gave them a new name, planets, and he gave them to the stars that remained. Teyra was given to your sun, along with 8 others: 4 were rock, like Teyra, and 4 had simply dulled their light, leaving only gas.

Teyra was to remain in its position as it was the first, so the others were arranged around it, forming the solar system. All over, this pattern was followed, each star having an arrangement of planets of different sizes, each one held in place by the sheer magnitude of their hosts. Gravity, my acolytes, and it was not exclusive to the stars.

Some of the smaller planets were captured by larger bodies and thus stripped of their status, being known as moons. These captured moons could number in the hundreds, though Teyra was given one.

Some of the even smaller planets broke apart, becoming asteroids. Others still were permitted to move on their own. To go rogue if you will.

Those that remained in their stars’ orbits would always have one side facing the light and another where the light and warmth could not reach, giving over to the darkness and cold. So planets were made to rotate so that they would be kept in a perpetual state of warming and cooling.

This was Alta (day) and Odic (night).

This was good.

Da Vaada (The Father) had Da Suun (The Son). Da Suun had Da Vaada. Da Suun served Da Vaada, but not as Kallor (Heat) and Kibet (Light) did in their continued birthing of stars. Not as the stars did in their giving form to space.

No, Da Suun served Da Vaada because Da Suun loved Da Vaada, for Da Suun was Da Vaada; In face, in voice, in authority. All that was, all that is, is his.

This is what we who know refer to as the first relationship.

And it was good.

For it is why we are all here.

As space became more and direction was named, darkness and cold were allowed presence and they took all that was in their reach.

A’ovi stretched out his hand, called left and held Kallor (Heat) within it. He stretched out his other hand, called right and held Kibet (Light) within it.

He brought them together and from this union came the Sun. Your sun. He sent them out to the increasingly far reaches to birth many stars.

The stars quickly became numerous, pushing the cold and the darkness aside.

In the presence of all these suns came THE Son.

And so, First Born became Da Vaada (the Father).

This was good.

Time is a strange concept, isn’t it?

There is the beginning and the constant forward motion towards an inevitable end. We each experience our own, and our perception of it seems to change with the weather or our location.

I often used to wonder if it was real. If there is a true objective, universal clock.

There is, and it began when A’ovi (First Born) opened his mouth and gave time a name.

He opened his eyes and gazed upon space, for now there was where none had been.

With his hands, he pushed out and expanded the space until it no longer needed him to do so.

He gave a name to the feeling of what had been done.

Good.

I want you to take a moment to imagine nothing.

Don’t bother closing your eyes. Darkness is still a thing, and light is its opposite, and your mind will fill in that void with memories or thoughts, anyway.

No, I want you truly to empty your mind and drown out external stimuli. Forget everything. There is no sight. No sound. No smell. No taste. No touch. There is no sense of forward or back. No up, no down. No right or left.

There is no ground beneath your feet or a sky above your head. There is no air for you to breathe nor any that you could poison. Gravity can neither crush you nor pull you apart because such a thing does not exist.

You have likely been taught that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only transferred from one source to another. But if there are no sources, from where does that energy come? And where does it go?

That, my Acolytes, is what predates and exists outside of all creation.

That is what we who know refer to as, for lack of a better term, The One Before.

The story of our universe begins as all do.

With nothing.

Greetings, I am the mighty Master Voluminous. Teacher, commentator and most importantly- to you- storyteller.
